Best USD Hockey Experience:
There are a lot of them during my four years at USD. The one that sticks out the most is
the 1995 year end banquet at Marcus and Thad's house. I was a freshman and Hauger and I
went to Marcus's bayside house to drink some beers and watch the awards ceremony. We all
started drinking early, and by the time the awards presentation came around, we all were
really wasted. Marcus was absolutely
hilarious. I can not remember the exact quotes from the night, but he had everyone
laughing and almost pissing their pants. He also had a six foot boa snake at his house but
I didn't believe him. I asked him where it was so he said he hasn't seen it in three days.
Marcus started looking for it and after about 20 minutes, he found it curled up underneath
the chair I was sitting in!
In any event, the night was just a great night, talking about the year and drinking beer.

Jeff Haug #9

Major: Business Administration
Graduation date: May 1998
Current Whereabouts: I am working at Firstar Bank in Minneapolis, MN.
Best USD hockey experience:
Our team went to the regional championships in LA and we beat UCLA 5-4 in the last minutes
to go to the championship to lose to El Camino. That was the first year of USD hockey in
1994-1995.
When our team went to Vegas in 1996 for a tournament and everyone was drunk and gambling
away all of their money. We slept about 10 guys in one hotel room. Well we didn't sleep
much.
I would say when we had the keg in the stands in our 97-98 season and we beat Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo 11-10 and I got 4 goals and Ben Erickson got 3 or 4 too. That was so fun
because it was a large crowd and pretty rowdy because of the beer.
(See the Hall of Fame Section for memories about Hauger)

Current Whereabouts: Marketing Manager at Western Scientific in San Diego
Best USD Hockey Experience: There are so many of them, it's hard to decide.
USD Hockey made my college career. However, our trip to Vegas in October 1999 for an
exhibition against Fresno State and UNLV has to rank up there. We kicked Fresno's
ass and then went to the bar in Crystal Palace for Happy Hour. The next game took
about two hours, and all the while were getting plastered on dollar drafts. By the
time we came out to play UNLV, we were all hammered. They beat us 8-3, but I made
about 50 saves and played the game of my life. Every time we play, the guys always
ask me if I've had anything to drink. Who says hockey players aren't superstitious?
